Once encounter forms are run, charts need to be prepped.

Initially within the system, department codes are set up. Those codes are then used to keep track of where charts are physically located.

Each time a chart enters or leaves a department, operators scan a bar-coded chart label or manually enter the patient number and update the status location. Operators also enter their initials for reference purposes.

That location will then appear at the bottom of the screen whenever a patient record is displayed.

  You can look up the charts checked into a particular location and select those you wish to send to a different department. Plus, you have the option to print out a hardcopy of charts at a particular location. Again, the operator performing the transfer will enter their initials for reference purposes.
